Prilep National Theatre performs "Pesijazol"
Prilep, April 1 (MIA) - Prilep National Theatre "Vojdan Cernodrinski" performs Wednesday evening "Pesijazol" by Petar Petreski, directed by Branko Stavrev.
This is an adaptation of Petreski's text, which was initially named "Heads". We have opened a process on different contemplation in theatre. It is about a poetry theatre, about a performance, which acts like total parabola, since it talks on one thing and thinks of another, says director Branko Stavrev.
According to the author, "Pesijazol" deals with the eternal theme -contest between life and death. In Macedonian context it is placed in the dilemma "Why the Macedonian, when in position to choose between heroic death and heroic life, whereas it is heroic to live, chose death?"
The story is placed during the Ottoman period, when rebellion fighters running from the chase, take cover in one Mariovo monastery, whereat many mentally disordered people were accommodated.
"Pesijazol" is that Macedonian Gordian knot related with present times as well. The drama is based on true story, which happened in Cebren Monastery in Mariovo, which no longer exists. The entire ensemble of Prilep National Theatre performs. Scenography and costumes are selected by director Stavrev, whereas music is made by Zlatko Origanski.
This is the first premiere of Prilep National Theatre since the start of the year, and April 2 is not chosen incidentally, as a day of metaphor on important issues for Macedonia.
