Macedonia must not remain isolated and abandoned - Albanian PM
London, April 11 (MIA) - Macedonia must not remain an isolated and abandoned island on the south of the Balkans, outside of NATO's security umbrella, and therefore should become Alliance member-state, Albanian Prime Minister Sali Berisha told BBC's program "Hard Talk".
Berisha stressed Macedonia is a vital part for Balkan's general stability, whereas the name issue with Greece is the only remaining problem, after which the country is to become a NATO member.
"This is an issue that must and can be resolved, because I know they are close to a solution", stated the Albanian PM, warning on the danger of radicals, who can create problems if the country does not join NATO.
Asked how would this reflect on Macedonia's decision to schedule early elections, PM Berisha explained that according to his knowledge, elections are held due to internal developments and problems in the ruling coalition on the Ohrid Agreement implementation, as well as the enormous disappointment of the lack of NATO invitation.
According to Berisha, elections could slow down Macedonia's progress towards the Alliance, but adds the country can catch up.
