Bitola Culture Center reacts: Manaki Brothers Festival stays in Bitola
Bitola, April 11 (MIA) - Bitola Culture Center director Ana Begajovska sent severe note to Macedonian Film Workers’ Association, due to the statement of its director Robert Naskov according to whom Manaki Brothers Festival will be moved to Skopje.
- The information that festival has been established by Macedonian Film Workers’ Association is inaccurate. This Festival was established on March 5, 1979, when film materials preserved in the Macedonian Film Library from the Manaki’s creative opus were presented. The Festival gained its international character in 1990, whereas ever since 1993 festival's patron has been the President of the Republic of Macedonia, while the Ministry of Culture appeared as its organiser. Ever since its establishment, the Festival was held in Bitola, sated Begajovska, being disturbed by the statement of Robert Naskov, president of Macedonian Film Workers’s Association.
The Culture Center, in coordination with the authorities in the Ministry of Culture and the Macedonian Film Library, urged the technical organisation of the event to be taken over by the city of Bitola.
- We are coordinated with the Secretary of State within the Ministry of Culture and Bitola Mayor Vladimir Talevski. That means two-thirds from the complete organisation have been made by the city. Naskov's statements are incorrect and not able to be realised, but unfortunately they are also given without the knowledge of the authorised institutions, Begajovska pointed out.
