Construction of Museum on Ohrid Lake kicks off

Ohrid, May 12 (MIA) - A museum build on the Ohrid Lake waters in Gradiste will not only be a new touristic attraction, rarely seen in the world, but also a testimony of a millenium old civilization in this region, Prime Minister Nikola Gruevski said Monday at a corner-stone laying ceremony, which marked the beginning of the museum's construction.

- We have been working for the future, but our strength and power lie in the past, which requires nourishing, Gruevski said, pointing out that the museum would be opened on December 8 - the St. Kliment Ohridski Day.

Pasko Kuzman, Director of the Cultural Heritage Protection Office, said an eight-year underwater research in this part of the Ohrid Lake unveiled remains of a wetland settlement, originating from the Bronze Age.
