Macedonian high school graduates to dance together with European peers

Skopje, May 16 (MIA) - Event “Prom Parade 2008” will be held at Skopje square “Pela” on Friday at noon, organized by the Skopje Culture and Art Office and dance club “Ritam Plus.”

Macedonian high school graduates will dance at the same time with their peers from Slovenia, Hungary, Croatia, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Montenegro and Serbia.

This year’s parade in Skopje will include 900-1,000 students from 15 high schools, as well as pupils from Ohrid, Veles, Strumica.

Todor Miladinov of dance club “Ritam Plus” said “Prom Parade” is parallel dancing of the “Quadrille” from Strauss opera “The Bat”, which lasts for about six minutes.

The Skopje parade is held under the auspices of the City of Skopje, supported by the EU Office to Macedonia.

Upon the initiative of Tomaz Ambroz, the first “Prom Parade” was held on May 21, 2001 in Ljubljana. Later, the number of interested cities increased, reaching over 30 this year.
