Italy supports Skopje on name issue, Crvenkovski ready to meet Karamanlis
Athens, May 16 (MIA) - Italy supports Skopje in the name dispute with Athens, reads Friday's edition of Greek newspaper "Ethnos".
"MEPs of party 'Forza Italia' of PM Silvio Berlusconi visit Macedonia in order to support Prime Minister and VMRO-DPMNE leader Nikola Gruevski in the pre-election campaign. They attend and address rallies, assessing Greece's position on the name issue as unacceptable. Italian MPs promise they would urge their colleagues from the European People's Party to support Skopje's European Union aspirations", states "Ethnos".
The newspaper also reads that Macedonian President Branko Crvenkovski is ready to meet with Greek PM Costas Karamanlis at the upcoming meeting of Heads of SEE States and Governments in Bulgarian town Pomorje next week.
"There is still no concrete initiative, but if the Greek side proposes such a meeting, Crvenkovski would accept it", says "Ethnos", calling on sources from the Macedonian President's Cabinet.
