FM Milososki: No official announcement on Nimetz arrival, name proposals

Skopje, July 2 (MIA) - There is no official announcement that UN mediator in the Macedonia-Greece name talks Matthew Nimetz will come to Macedonia in the next few days, said Wednesday Foreign Minister Antonio Milososki following his address at Skopje forum "Balkan Security: NATO after Bucharest Summit".

"However, we are ready to remain part of the process of exchanging arguments. Therefore, I expect this framework that includes Nimetz to remain the same", stated Milososki.

Asked if he was satisfied with Nimetz's latest package of proposals, FM Milososki said the offer is yet to be seen in the upcoming period.

"For the time being, there are no official offers or concrete proposals", he added.

According to him, one can notice that official Athens enlarges the range of issues to be addressed with every new session.

"We estimate that if such a principle is followed, then it is good if all issues, which could cause misunderstandings in the future, are closed. This includes the return of properties to children-refugees, who are Macedonian nationals, and are entitled to obtain Greek citizenship, since they had been born there", stressed Milososki.

Pertaining to Washington's timeframe for the issue closure, the Foreign Minister emphasized there are no deadlines, only efforts from a number of parties in order to bring countries' positions closer.

"We would be satisfied if Athens' position is more constructive, so that we can approximate our stances as soon as possible", said Milososki.

In regard to relations with NATO, FM Milososki stressed Macedonia would resume to nurture partnership relations with the Alliance.

"This is an organization following an integration strategy, although a member-state can block this in the short run", he stated, adding the blocking potentials of a member-state are far inferior to NATO's strategic determination to integrate SEE countries.

"In this regard, Republic of Macedonia will continue to provide its contribution in peacekeeping missions", said Milososki.

On the beginning of the Macedonia-Kosovo border demarcation, Milososki claimed it is not related to the decision of Kosovo's independence recognition and added the demarcation process should resume with accelerated tempo.

"The decision on recognition of Kosovo's independence will be reviewed in conditions when the Macedonian Government believes is the right time", underlined Foreign Minister Antonio Milososki.
