Parliament endorses patient protection law on protection

Skopje, July 2 (MIA) - Members of the Macedonian Parliament endorsed a patient protection law by 68 votes 'for'.

Under the law, a system for patient protection will be introduced in Macedonia in line with European standards. It sets the rights and obligations of both patients and health care institutions.

- The protection of patient rights provides for high-quality health care in accordance with the medical achievements and within the health care system, appropriate the individual needs of the patient and fully respecting his/her dignity, the law's elaboration reads.

Opposition MPs supported the law. During the debate on this bill the Government accepted 15 amendments to the law, submitted by the opposition party SDSM, as well as most of about 40 amendemnets filed by MP of opposition LDP - Roza Topuzovska-Karevska.
