Berisa denies plans to oust OSCE

Tirana, August 5 (MIA) - Albania has never and will never urge the OSCE to leave its territory. Instead the country will ask its presence to be boosted prior to the 2009 parliamentary elections, stated Albanian Prime Minister Sali Berisa, denying any speculations that the Government in Tirana wanted OSCE to move its mission out of its territory.

Recently, a U.S. diplomat accused the Albanian government of planning to "oust OSCE out of its country", but it seems that OSCE provided its biggest guarantee by PM Berisa that its mission won't be touched by even a finger and that it will be reinforced, MIA reports from Tirana.

He accused the opposition Socialist Party of spreading lies. Berisa announced that the government for the election campaign will demand the OSCE monitoring mission to double its presence, as well as the European Parliament, the Council of Europe, NGOs to deploy its representatives.
