The Holy Martyr Agathonicus, Zoticus and others with them
St. Agathonicus was a citizen of Nicomedia and a Christian by faith. With great zeal he converted the Hellenes from idolatry and instructed them in the true Faith. By order of Emperor Maximian, the emperor's deputy cruelly persecuted the Christians. During the persecution, the deputy captured St. Zoticus in a place called Carpe, crucified his disciples and brought Zoticus to Nicomedia where he also captured and bound St. Agathonicus, Princeps, Theoprepius, (Bogoljepa), Acindynus, Severianus, Zeno and many others. Securely bound, they were all taken to Byzantium. However, along the way, Saints Zoticus, Theoprepius and Acindynus died of their many wounds and exhaustion. They killed Severianus near Chalcedon and, Agathonicus with the others were taken to Thrace to the town of Silybria where, after torture before the emperor himself, they were beheaded and entered into eternal life and into the joy of their Lord.

St. Rosalia
St. Rosalia, daughter of Sinibald, Lord of Roses and Quisquina, was a descendant of the great Charlemagne. She was born at Palermo in Sicily. In her youth, her heart turned from earthly vanities to God. She left her home and took up her abode in a cave, on the walls of which she wrote these words: "I, Rosalia, daughter of Sinibald, Lord of Roses and Quisquina, have taken the resolution to live in this cave for the love of my Lord, Jesus Christ." She remained there entirely hidden from the world. She practiced great mortification and lived in constant communion with God. Afterward she transferred her abode to Mount Pellegrino, about three miles from Palermo, in order to triumph entirely over the instincts of flesh and blood, in sight of her paternal home. She is said to have appeared after death and to have revealed that she spent several years in a little excavation near the grotto. She died alone, in 1160, ending her strange and wonderful life unknown to the world. Her body was discovered several centuries later, in 1625, during the pontificate of Pope Urban VIII. Her feast day is September 4th.
ISLAMIC CALENDAR
Iftar time, or the breaking of the fast meal by the Islamic believers in the city of Skopje Monday begins at 19:12 hours and Imsak time or the beginning of the fast begins at 04:17 hours.
Iftar and Imsak time begin one minute earlier in Prilep and Kumanovo, two minutes in Veles, three minutes in Stip, four minutes in Kocani, five minutes in Strumica and Valandovo and six minutes in Delcevo.
In relation to Skopje, Iftar and Imsak time begin one minute later in Tetovo, Gostivar and Kicevo and five minutes later in Ohrid, Debar and Struga.
TODAY IN HISTORY
1903 - Manol Rizov, Macedonian revolutionist died in the fight against the Turkish army on Kajmakcalan. He was born in the village of Bobista, Kostur region, in 1876.
1991 - One of the founders of the archive service in Macedonia Dimce Mire died.
1996 - New Macedonian money with new design were promoted in the National Bank of the Republic of Macedonia, which were put into circulation on September 8, 1996.
