Parliament approves detention of MPs Hisen and Misini

Skopje, September 27 (MIA) - Macedonian Parliament approved early Saturday a detention of MPs Xhemaili Hisen and Hajrula Misini, demanded by the Skopje Court I.

Aleksandar Nikolvski, chairman of the Committee on Rules of Procedure and Mandatory-Immunity Issues, said the two MPs expressed readiness to appear at trials against them regardless of their parliamentary immunity.

Rafiz Aliti, MP of the Democratic Union for Integration (DUI), said yesterday at the Committee's session that DUI's parliamentary group respected a decision of the two MPs, but urged for complying to the Amnesty Law.

- As a parliamentarian group we consider that the Law on Amnesty should be respected. We shall not support a demand that breaches the law, adopted in March of 2002, Aliti said.

Hisen is one of the accused for the torture of 'Mavrovo' construction workers, while Misini for the closure of 'Lipkovo Dam' - two of the cases from the 2001 conflict that were returned to Macedonia by the Hague Tribunal.
