Leaders' meeting on name issue kicks off

Skopje, October 6 (MIA) - The state leadership and leaders of four major parliamentary parties have come together Monday to discuss the country's position in Skopje-Athens row over Macedonia's constitutional name ahead of expected settlement proposal by UN mediator Matthew Nimetz.

Prime Minister Nikola Gruevski has convened the leaders' meeting at which President Branko Crvenkovski, Foreign Minister Antonio Milososki and Macedonia's representative to name negotiations - Nikola Dimitrov are also invited.

It has not been announced that Parliament Speaker Trajko Veljanoski, as well as leaders or representatives of all parliamentary parties are to also attend the meeting.

This was the reason for the leader of the Democratic Party of Albanians (DPA), Menduh Tachi, who in spite of appearing at the meeting venue refused to participate.

- This is not a serious approach to a very important matter, such as the name issue, DPA Vice-President Imer Aliu said, pointing out that the broaden list of attendants was not mentioned in the invitation for today's meeting.

Today's meeting will also address changes to Electoral Code, the Government Information Service said in a press release.
