Project document on mitigation of climate changes signed
Skopje, July 3 (MIA) - Minister of Environment and Physical Planning Nexhati Jakupi and UNDP Resident Representative to Macedonia Ann-Marie Ali signed Friday document on project "Mitigation of Climate Changes through Improvement of Energy Efficiency in Construction Sector".
"This project is an important step towards EU accession, i.e. meeting of conditions for Union membership", stressed Minister Jakupi.
The project is worth Euro 350,000 over a two-year period.
"The project's main goal is to contribute in creating appropriate conditions for improvement of energy efficiency in the construction sector, thus contributing to reduction of climate changes at a national level", added UNDP representative Ali.
The project, which is complementary with the Program for Energy Efficiency of the Economy Ministry, will develop a map of detailed climate parameters that would represent the foundation in preparing bylaws in this sector, along with programs for energy efficiency in the sector implemented in pilot-municipalities, as well as raising of the public awareness on enhancement of knowledge related to energy and environment protection measures.
