Macedonia's external trade scope in January-May declines for 36,8 percent
Skopje, July 3 (MIA) - Macedonia's international trade scope in the period January-May 2009 has declined for 36.8 % in comparison with the international trade scope in the same period last year, the State Statistical Office said Friday.
According to the statistical preliminary data the export value of Macedonian goods in the period January-May 2009 is at US$ 951,103; while the import one at US $1,9 million. The import coverage with export is 50.0%. Trade deficit in this period is $951,057.
Trade exchange according to products shows that in the exports the most significant products are ferro-nickel, iron and steel products (flat-rolled products) and clothes. In the imports the most significant products are the crude petroleum oils, electricity and motor vehicles for the transport of persons.
In the period January-May 2009 the most important Macedonia's trade partners are the EU 27 (56.3%) and the West Balkan countries (37.7%), while in the import - the EU 27(51.5%) and the developing countries (26.9%). According to the total commodity international trade scope, Macedonia’s most important partners are Germany, Serbia, Russia, Greece, and Italy (48.4% from the total commodity international trade exchange). With some of these trade partners Macedonia has a surplus in the trade exchange.
