Bosnia confirms first case of new influenza

Sarajevo, July 1 (MIA) -  Tests have confirmed the appearance of the new influenza A in Bosnia-Herzegovina, the Bosnian Serb entity's assistant health minister, Amela Lolic, said on Wednesday.

She told the press the results of additional tests done at Belgrade's Torlak Institute arrived in Banja Luka today, confirming that the 24-year-old woman in question is infected with swine flu, as suspected earlier this week, Hina reported.

This is the first confirmed case of swine flu in Bosnia-Herzegovina, said Lolic.

The woman arrived in Banja Luka from South America, she is being treated at home, and everything is being done to prevent the infection from possibly spreading, she said, adding that the 20 relatives who had been in contact with the woman had been examined and that so far none had any swine flu symptoms.
