European experts arrive in Greece to help it cope with influx of asylum seekers

Athens, 31 August 2015 (MIA) - Representatives from the European Union institutions will travel to the Greek Aegean Islands and the Athens port of Piraeus to advise and assist Greek authorities in managing the enormous flow of refugees from the Middle East, coming in from Turkey.

Greek Kathimerini daily writes that the European asylum support office will provide personnel that will assist in informing the refugees arriving in Greece about their asylum application rights. A 15 member team will be in Piraeus to work with the refugees, who arrive here on ferries taking them from the islands like Kos and Lesvos, which are their usual first destinations after they cross the Aegean Sea from Turkey.
