Kosovo hit by floods after torrential rains

Pristina, 7 January 2016 (MIA) – Heavy rains have caused flash floods in almost every municipality in Kosovo, BTA reported.

No deaths have been reported, however the material damage that has been caused is quite serious.

Kosovo President Atifete Jahjaga held a phone call last light with the mayors of the flood-hit municipalities to learn more about what kind of measures were being taken to address the consequences.

Following the situation closely, PM Isa Mustafa has called on competed services to coordinate with municipal authorities in order all necessary measures to be taken to alleviate the consequences and provide assistance to the citizens.

It has been also reported that hundreds of people had been evacuated from their homes in Albania on Wednesday, where heavy rains caused floods, landslides and obstructions on roads. There is no information on fatalities.
