Albanian police seized more than a ton of marijuana in two raids

Tirana, 28 February 2017 (MIA) - More than a ton of marijuana was seized in two separate raids in Albania, which is considered the main marijuana exporter of the Balkans.
In the larger of the two raids, 900 kilograms were seized and six smugglers arrested near Valona. The drugs were being loaded on a large speed boat that was supposed to carry it to Italy.
And near Konica, at the Greek - Albanian border, additional 340 kilograms of the drug were seized before it could be delivered to the street market in Athens. In two months, Albanian and Italian police have seized more than 30 tons of marijuana, most of it after it reached the Italian market.
