Denying Srebrenica genocide becomes punishable under Bosniak-Croat federation law

Sarajevo, 20 July 2014 (MIA) - The Parliament of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina adopted amendments to the entity Penal Code under which denying the Srebrenica genocide and war crimes confirmed by court rulings would be treated a crime carrying a prison sentence of up to three years, HINA reports.

The amendments, proposed by Jasnim Duvnjak of the Party of Democratic Action (SDA), were adopted by the House of Peoples after they were approved by the House of Representatives.

The amended Penal Code will go into force eight days after its publication in the entity's official gazette.

For now it remains unclear if these regulations will apply to people from the Bosnian Serb entity.
