Bulgaria approves final drafts of cross-border cooperation programmes with Serbia, Turkey and Macedonia

Sofia, 21 August 2014 (MIA) - The final versions of the cross-border cooperation programmes between Bulgaria, of the one part, and  Serbia, Turkey, Macedonia, of the other part, for the new  programming period 2014-2020 have been approved by the joint  working groups, the press centre of the Regional Development  Ministry said.

The drafts will be submitted to the European Commission before  the deadline (September 22). In case of approval, the first  calls for proposals may be launched in the spring of next year.

Projects under the three programmes will be financed by over EUR 83  million. The funds are provided through the Instrument for  Pre-accession Assistance (IPA) and national co-financing, BTA news agency reports.

The Vratsa Region is included as eligible partner under the Bulgaria-Serbia cross-border cooperation programme. Other regions covered by the programme are Vidin, Montana, Sofia, Pernik and Kyustendil. The total budget for the bilateral projects will exceed EUR 34 million, of which 28 million will be provided by the EU in gratuitous financing.

The funds envisaged for the Bulgaria-Turkey programme are around EUR 30 million. Eligible partners on the part of Bulgaria are the regions of Haskovo, Yambol and Bourgas.

The budget for the Bulgaria-Macedonia programme is EUR 19.5 million with Blagoevgrad and Kyustendil as eligible partners.

The final version of the regional cooperation programme between  Bulgaria and Greece for the 2014-2020 period is about to be  approved tomorrow.
