Reforms necessary for EU integration, public administration and economy resume - PM Gruevski

Skopje, 9 January 2011 (MIA) - Government in 2011 plans on resuming reforms related to EU integration and on adopting over 60 laws, including 450 by-laws, in compliance with the Action Plan, Prime Minister Nikola Gruevski stated on Sunday.

"The Action Plan, envisaging EU projects, has been already adopted by the Government and it covers a number of measures that need to be taken. They include a large number of laws and many by-laws, taking into consideration that the Government in 2010 had enacted many laws that should be regulated with by-laws. Moreover, there will be many amendments and new laws, thus progress, key reforms and major improvements are going to be made," Gruevski said at a ceremony where cornerstone was laid for construction of sports hall in "11 October" primary school in Skopje.

Major breakthrough is expected this year by reforms in the public sector and public administration, according to him.

"The Public Administration Committee has started its operations and the Ministry for Information Society is taking over the role of main advocate of reforms in the public sector. Hence, major progress is expected in 2011," Gruevski said.

He added that ongoing projects in economy, judiciary, agriculture and many other areas in the interest of citizens would be resumed.
