Fifth Dance Fest to be held on April 7-16Skopje, March 25 (MIA) - Interart Cultural Center announced Wednesday at a press conference the program for the 5th Dance Fest, which will be held on April 7-16 under the motto "The Miraculous World of Dance".
- Five years ago, the Dance Fest was established with enthusiasm, but while assembling this year's program we managed to make a presentation of the dance art in Macedonia, which is in line with global dance tendencies, said Risima Risimkin of Interart Center.
She noted that this year the festival was supported by the Ministry of Culture and would be held in cooperation with the Dutch Embassy in Skopje.
Dance Fest will be opened with a Swedish film on dance, which is a novelty of the festival. On April 8, the Roterdam dance academy, which has a 75-year tradition, will perform the project "Talents in Movements. On the occasion of the 60th anniversary of Macedonia's national ballet, on April 9 an evening devoted to the Macedonian choreographic opus will take place.
The Kosovo Ballet will perform on April 10 with its project titled "Performance", while the next day Dance Fest will move to Bitola, where the Swedish dance film will be screened.
The final two days of the festival - April 14 and 16 - will see the performance of a 60-member ensemble from the Turkish state opera and ballet.
Dance Fest performances will take place in the Macedonian Opera and Ballet, Youth Cultural Center and the Museum of Contemporary Art.
The Dance Fest Council, chaired by academic Cvetan Grozdanov, has reached an unanimous decision to allocate the annual award "Menada" for top achievements in the art of dance to prima ballerina Irena Veterova, who has established a successful career both home and abroad.
