Visegrad countries discuss helping Balkans control the flow of refugees

Prague, 19 January 2016 (MIA) - Interior Ministers from the Visegrad group of countries - the Czech Republic, Poland, Hungary and Slovakia, met with their counterparts from Serbia and Slovenia to discuss assistance these countries can receive to better control the flow of refugees along the Balkan route. Macedonian Interior Minister Oliver Spasovski arrived in Prague, but didn't attend the meeting, given his party's refusal to vote for the placeholder Government on Monday evening, in which Spasovski was re-appointed.

"During our debate we touched on the issue that is a priority for us - the opening of the hotspot centers. We concluded that it is very important to decide the security issues related to the coming migrants through these centers", Czech Interior Minister Milan Hovanec said. The hotspot centers are supposed to be opened in Greece and Italy, and serve as filters to determine the eligibility of the refugees and migrants to seek asylum in Europe, and possible security issues related with them.
