Turkey wants to normalize relations with Egypt

Ankara, 25 August 2016 (MIA) - Turkish Prime Minister Binali Yildirim said that the country needs to normalize its relations with Egypt, badly damaged after the 2013 coup which toppled President Mohamed Morsi, who enjoyed good cooperation with the Turkish ruling AKP party.

"We share common values with the Egyptian people, we share religion, culture, we share the region. We must normalize relations with Egypt because we can't go on in this way", said Prime Minister Yildirim.

Turkey itself suffered a failed military coup last month, in which army officer tried to bring down the Erdogan Government, which they accuse of being too Islamist.
