Greek coast guard rescues 41 migrants from a sinking boat

Athens, 28 February 2017 (MIA) - Greek coast guard informed that it has rescued 41 migrants whose boat began sinking near the Aegean island of Kythera.
People on the boat sent a distress call to the coast guard. They were put on a cargo ship and taken to the main Greek port of Piraeus.
Greece houses about 60.000 migrants and refugees who have been stuck there ever since Macedonia closed the border for unregulated crossing about a year ago, to put an end to the 2015 - 2016 migrant crisis. Since then attempts by migrants to cross the Aegean have been reduced, but haven't stopped in full.
