Turkey says Aegean Sea border remains an open issue with GreeceAnkara, 16 August 2017 (MIA) - Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu said that the Aegean Sea border issue and the ownership of a number of islands and islets remains an open issue between Turkey and Greece. Cavusoglu told the Turkish Parliament that the core of the problem is that Greece and Turkey don't have a clearly defined Aegean border agreed in one internationally accepted treaty, and that there are problems in defining clauses in the 1923 Lausanne Treaty and the 1947 Paris Treaty. Greece usually reacts anxiously whenever Turkey raises the issue of the disputed Aegean islets and the islets in the sea off Crete. A total of 18 islands and islets are disputed between the two countries.
