Tzar Nicholas II monument unveiled in Belgrade

Belgrade, 16 November 2014 (MIA) - Serbian President Tomislav Nikolic unveiled Sunday a monument of Russian Tzar Nicholas II in downtown Belgrade saying the capital of Serbia now had an additional symbol of the longstanding friendship between Serbia and Russia.

"This monument shines in the heart of Belgrade commemorating the tzar-martyr Nicholas II as a symbol of eternal victory of good and justice, human sacrifices for values larger than humans and the tzar, larger than life," stated Nikolic, Tanjug reported.

The bronze monument was made by world-renowned Russian sculptors Andrei Kovalchuk and Gennady Pravotvorov.

On this occasion, the eight-meter monument was sanctified by the patriarch of Moscow and All Russia, Kirill, and Serbian Patriarch Irinej.
