Serbia sends aid to flood-stricken Macedonia and Albania

Belgrade, 10 February 2015 (MIA) - Serbia's government  will send financial aid of EUR 50,000 each to flood stricken Macedonia and Albania, Tanjug news agency reports.

The decision to send one-off financial aid to the neighboring countries affected by disastrous floods was made on 8 February at the suggestion of Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic, the government said in a press release.

The floods hit eastern Macedonia and southern Albania in late January and early February. Heavy rain that lasted for days caused rivers to burst their banks and flood nearby villages, from which hundreds of people had to be evacuated.
