Hostage drama in a bank in eastern Turkey

Ankara, 25 March 2015 (MIA) - A Turkish man armed with a shotgun caused a hostage situation in a bank in the eastern Turkish province of Van, where he held seven employees as hostages. The attacker asked for about 200.000 USD, which he needed to treat his sick child, and a helicopter to get away from the bank.

After hours of negotiations, the hostage taker released three of hostages, including a pregnant woman. Police are continuing to talk to him, to try to get him to release all the hostages and turn himself in.
