Bosnia forms government 6 months after electionsSarajevo, 31 March 2015 (MIA) - Nearly six months after the elections, Bosnia-Herzegovina formed a new government that will have to implement substantial reforms in order to put the country on track for eventual EU membership.
At Tuesday's parliament session, lawmakers approved the nine ministers proposed by Prime Minister Denis Zvizdic, AP reports.
Two weeks ago, the European Union finally approved an association agreement with Bosnia-Herzegovina — the first step on its membership path — in return for a written promise the newly elected leaders made to improve the country's economic performance and administrative capacity.
Almost all other countries in the Balkan region already gained candidate status. Bosnia is far behind because of inter-ethnic bickering that stalled the process, as well as economic development. The country's unemployment rate is nearly 40 percent.
